Rosemont Landform Grading Project, Arizona

×Details

The purpose of this project was to design a mountain that would take on a natural appearance.

Rosemont-Mine-Rendering

The mountain consisted of 1.2 billion cubic yards of earthwork tailings from the proposed Rosemont Copper Mine. The challenge was to create a fill disposal site which would be visually appealing to drivers along the adjacent highway.

Winwood Design used site photos and topographic maps to prepare a conceptual land plan which took into account the natural drainage and existing surrounding terrain. These concepts were critical in negotiatations between the mine owner and Arizona Fish and Game in order to obtain permits on government land.
