As a native of Southern California, David’s passion for the environment, and his creativity in utilizing existing topography in his designs, have resulted in gorgeous, usable, environmentally-friendly land plans.
David’s plans significantly increase the value of the property for the land owners. David is tenacious about keeping the landowner’s vision and requirements at the forefront of his efforts as he manages his client’s plans through the multitude of approval processes.
The results of David’s innovative yet environmentally conscious land planning can be seen throughout Los Angeles, San Diego and Orange County.

David Davis fell in love with engineering and grading design while working on earthwork calculations for grading plans and engineering designs for Lind and Hillerud, an engineering company located in Pasadena, California. After managing construction staking and property boundaries for Lee C. Plants in Eugene, Oregon, David was recruited by Hunsaker and Associates as a Land Planner and Grading Designer, and in 1987 he opened their San Diego office as Vice President and Director of Operations and Planning, where the office quickly grew to 100 employees. David founded Winwood Design in 1992 and has developed projects for companies such as KB Homes, Gatlin Development, and Environmental Development.
